The Right & Smart Thing To Do

DearJames,

I have made the biggest mess of my own life. Every choice I’ve made has been wrong it seems. I am now living in someone else’s home, and I don’t even have a bedroom. Before this, I was at my ex-husband’s cousins’ home in the basement until he sold the house. Now it seems like I’ll never get out of this mess.

My car was stolen and I have yet to even recover that or a job. It’s really beginning to make me feel like giving up would be the right thing and smart thing to do. I haven’t had any man in my life treat me very well since my own dad passed away almost 9 years ago.

I just wish I could get some help. My sad dog seems to hate me more daily. Please help?

Kellie

Dear The Right & Smart Thing To Do,

Giving up is neither the right nor smart thing to do, it’s simply the “easy way out.” As The Unseen said some time ago, “allow your life experiences to refine you, not define you.” You are stronger than you give yourself credit for and you are certainly more than your past choices. The past is the past. Thank it for everything it has taught you and then allow it to fall away with great grace, gratitude, and appreciation. Doing so sets the stage for the next iteration of you to come.

Individually and collectively, we are all being asked to face our past choices, empty our vessels, hone and polish our stones, to make room for the new. When our mind, vessel, and being are chock full of old stories, scripts, truths, labels, masks, and identities we’ve created and told ourselves we are, there is simply no room for, let alone energy to begin anew. The old “us” plays on an endless, continuous loop until we choose otherwise.

Release. Release. Release the past and begin anew.

And the first place you begin is within. It is always an inside job as “wherever you go, there you are.” Upon waking, before you close your eyes, and throughout the day, commit to repeating to yourself quietly or aloud positive statements and affirmations that recognize your innate value, worth, and goodness. I Am Happy. I Am Healthy. I Am Worthy. I Am Love to name a few.

Commit to this practice without hesitation or reservation. And when need be, fake it till you make it, until the thoughts and words you are reciting to yourself take on a joyous life of their own. Far from being a delusional waste of your time, you are re-writing and re-training your brain, your being, to vibrate at a higher frequency. A frequency imbued with positivity, love, light, possibility, and abundance. This is how you begin right where you are. This is the mechanism, belief, and practice that will align and sustain you through any hardship.

It all begins within.

In concert with the above, be willing to reach out to all private and public assistance programs – offerings. There are many available on a local, state, and national level and there is absolutely no shame in seeking assistance when one is earnestly striving to rebuild and restore one’s life. The generosity of the human spirit is limitless; you need only earnestly mirror it to unlock all its possibilities. And while each step may be filled with fear, it is important to remember that they are just that, individual steps that when coupled together, place you on a firm path…foundation, one that delivers you to a whole new you.

Do Not Give Up!

Instead, double down on your innate greatness. There are no mistakes in life, only choices. And while your past life choices led you to this moment, equally true is that your present, future choices have the power to restore, renew, and deliver you. It is simply a matter of choice. Choose to place one foot in front of the other. Choose to reach higher ground. Choose to believe you are worthy. Your soul knows The Way. All you need to do is listen, trust, and follow it.

Many Blessings to You,
