Heavy Heart
- CHILD/CHILDREN
- ACCOUNTABILITY/RESPONSIBILITY

DearJames,
I had a consultation with you and when we were done I truly felt empowered. Since then I seem to have fallen into an even darker hole. How do I let go of a son who wants to sink? My heart is heavy, and I so long for the heartache to subside. I feel like I’m failing in all areas. Maybe some prayers are needed.

Dear Heavy Heart,
One of the greatest challenges in life is to allow another their souls journey.
Separating your journey from theirs is the second most challenging as every parent feels responsible for their child/children. The belief that their every act reflects us is a misnomer. Their every wound, our wound, our responsibility to cure, heal, or remedy.
On a soul level everything is divine and neutral.
Based upon divine neutrality and love, each of you agreed to play particular roles for the others benefit. To effectuate opportunity and experience, karma, and transcendence. How one chooses to experience these life experiences, these life lessons/opportunities and transcend them is up to each individual person…soul.
You need not sink with your son. You need only love him enough to allow his soul the experiences he sought before ever incarnating into this lifetime, and yourself more as you accept the conditions of the soul contract.
By trying to keep him from his harm, you infringe upon his preferred soul growth and development. While incredibly challenging and hard to bear witness to, it may be through the harm he inflicts upon himself that he actually experiences his greatest lessons/opportunities and transcends them. Equally likely is the possibility that he becomes these lessons and learns through the cloak of opposites.
Again, one of the greatest challenges in life is to allow another their souls journey.
In either case, his soul experiences and receives valuable lessons based upon choice. Differing paths of soul-self-expression experiencing itself. This is true for every soul, and you are wise to contemplate these universal truths.
There is no fault or blame, only love.
Opening your heart and soul to this cosmic truth allows divine grace and wisdom to permeate all. To play out as each soul intends.
There may be no joy in watching your son sink. However, the same is true for the celebration of hollow victories. Gifted with the privilege of choice, the soul knows its many options. Choose to surrender these circumstances to a higher power, your higher power-self, knowing whatever the outcome, at its foundation for each of you is love, understanding, and grace.
Make peace with this and remain open so you receive all that your souls have to offer.
