Gonna Get A Big Job

DearJames,

When are we gonna get a big job? We lost one two weeks ago.

Dear Gonna Get A Big Job,

Sometimes BIG things come in SMALL ways.

The point is, like a cab driver, numerous small fares amount to a greater day’s earnings than one singular large fare. It’s time to rethink both your business and your business strategy.

There’s too much reliance on “how you’ve always done things,” and not enough focus on what are you actively doing to change, modify, and adapt your business to both meet the changing times, demands, and needs of our customer base, while also attracting a more diverse clientele.

Outreach is key. A failed outreach leads to a failed business.

Stoke the fires within to get reenergized, refocused, and most importantly, recommitted to the tasks at hand. Sitting back waiting for the phone to ring is not going to deliver the next big job, it just isn’t. Your lack of engagement is palpable to the people on the other end of the line, as well as those who have done business with you prior.

The “next best thing” isn’t the way to go any more than staying the course is. What’s needed here is some serious, strategic, stayed, and true ingenuity, insight, elbow grease, and determined perseverance. Anything short of that will not do, and you will find yourself in a position, sooner than later, of having to shutter your doors.

Be Bold like a Butterfly – Sting Like a Bee!

That will deliver not only the next big job, but also a plethora of small/mid-size jobs in between that will not only sustain you but also fill your coffers to overflowing. Hooray for the Golden Honeypot!
