Anxiety

DearJames,

Why do I have anxiety? What can I do to stop it? Thank you.

Victoria

Dear Anxiety,

Fear is the number one casual factor for anxiety.  Chronic fear eats away at your self-confidence, self-value, self-worth, and independence, rendering yourself anxiety ridden.

Fears come in all shapes, sizes, and categories.  The anxiety caused by various fears varies as well.  Some fears / anxieties render people completely immobile while others are fleeting or momentary.

To answer your direct question, you have anxiety because you allow your conscious and unconscious fears to consume and dictate your life.   To overcome or transcend your anxieties you first need to discern from where those anxieties originate.

In other words, identify your fears or the factors underlying the various anxieties you are facing on a chronic or routine basis.  Then begin the earnest work of transcending them.

Depending upon the basis of each fear / anxiety, seeking professional assistance is always recommended.

Professional assistance varies from traditional psychiatrists/psychologists, therapists, counselors, etc., to past life regression therapy, yoga, meditation, or acupuncture.

Each has a distinct set of benefits and attributes, so choose the modalities that resonate best with you.

By actively identifying the source of your fear, which prompts or stimulates your anxiety, you can see them more clearly and thus transcend them.  Left untreated, anxieties can manifest into a host of other disorders including insomnia, bulimia, anorexia, OCD, etc.

I sense that you may already be experiencing an eating disorder, whereby you attempt to mitigate or drown out your anxiety with food.  This only serves to push you further into a place of fear and despair, much like a vicious never-ending cycle.

By facing your fears head on, you will transcend them, rendering them powerless upon your person.  These fears / anxieties are meant as opportunities for your soul to learn and evolve beyond them, not fall victim to them.

The challenge is in realizing that you are the one deciding whether they stay for a moment, a lifetime, or somewhere in between as you discern and learn the lessons, they were brought to you to teach, and thus the opportunities.

The ultimate power lies within you.  Willfully choose a different reality.
