Inspiration To Others
- DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
- STARTING OVER
- FAITH/RELIGION/SPIRITUALITY
DearJames,
I left a very abusive situation in California and moved with my two-year old son to Idaho. I left behind my paid for house, all our belongings, and my grown kids and grandkids. When we left I was extremely bitter and angry. I joined support groups, which were very helpful at the time.
My question is how do I step away from these groups? I am no longer bitter. I am serving the Lord and am trying to be positive. I no longer want to bash anyone or seek revenge etc. I feel guilty leaving because these people were there for me. I want to be an inspiration to others, and I want to let people know that there is hope.
I don’t want to dim my light so that others won’t be mad or sick of hearing success stories. Within the next five years my goal is to be a speaker. I want to tell my story and spread awareness about domestic violence and the effects it has on children. What should I do to make this happen?

Dear Inspiration To Others,
The Lea Michelle recorded song “Roots Before Branches” featured on the Fox network hit Glee feels like your anthem.
Written with soul as an up-tempo ballad, the lyrics by Adam Anders and Nikki Hassman tell the story of knowing you were meant for something else, but first you had to find yourself.
You had to have roots before branches, to know who you are before you know who you want to be and faith to take chances. To live like you see, a place in this world for me.
What a testament you are to both these lyrics and all the women who suffer domestic violence.
Make no apologies for standing where you are today. Rather, offer up praise and abundant gratitude for the many souls who have lent you a helping-hand during this time of healing and recovery.
Engage them in your desire to continue your journey in a new way, moving from one in need to one who leads and may be leaned upon. Demonstrate the value of their love and support by exemplifying it in your every word, deed, and action.
Be the example you wish to teach. Honor, support, and pay tribute to all who came before you, all who helped you climb to where you are today.
Walk with grace, dignity, and humility knowing your suffering and despair have been replaced with courage, confidence, conviction, and triumph. It is in finding yourself that you’ve come to know yourself…better.
Above all else on this journey to teach others, remember to speak authentically, truthfully. Find strength in the ashes of your former story. Renewed passion in the embers of your eternal soul, and life in the roots you have so courageously nourished.
Success is about more than achievements, awards, and recognition, it’s about TRANSCENDENCE.
How do you make all this happen you ask, follow the wisdom of your heart, your soul. Be open to go as your soul guides you. Forsake judgment and opinion for patience in the flowering and unfolding of life experiences. Share and express the experiences don’t become them. Live authentically, continuing to empower both yourself and others.
May your growth be rich and abundant.
