Smile On My Face

DearJames,

I’m writing my question with a big smile on my face. What is my life direction and could it be in alignment with my career? I’m smiling because I’m an astrologer, reading astrological charts for others having started doing this ten years ago.

I feel like I hide, sabotage, or go away from what I could do sometimes. I feel that it is so good just to be alive and just “to be” that I can’t even say I am tired.

I feel like and see that I’m going through big changes and preparing myself for a little bit bigger audience. I’ve started to make records, which for me is a huge challenge. I’m very spontaneous and sometimes not really in good balance with my and my family’s practical needs.

Would you please comment on my situation and give me some advice?

Dear Smile On My Face,

Following your passion takes commitment. Of course, we should first address whether astrology is your passion, your purpose.

Something tells me that while you do indeed love astrology, it may not be what gets you up and going in the morning. It feels more like a hobby that makes you happy than an actual serious career. That being the case, you will want to delve deeper to determine what else truly inspires and calls you.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with being good or even great at something, and not taking it to a higher level or broader audience to pursue a greater act or arc. In all life plays, there is always a lead character and supporting cast members. The same is true for our passion(s) and purpose(s). You are not a single note, but rather a beautiful melody seeking its fullest expression.

What is crucial though is being authentic. Authentic about your interests, intentions, motivations, desires, and decisions. Your authenticity, or lack thereof, sets the tone for your experiences. It is a palpable energetic people feel, and when dealing with the public, purity speaks power and truth.

To align your life direction with your career, you must first face your fears. Step through the fire and pursue what you know to be your calling, your passion. Don’t hide behind the astrological wheel, harness it to its fullest advantage. Be clear about what it is you want to pursue and offer the world. How do you wish to serve. Once clear, instigate a plan that makes it a reality.

Life direction and career can absolutely be in concert and harmony with the other; you simply must choose to make it so. Once you’ve committed to living your purpose and passion, remain open as to how the Universe shows up to assist you in these endeavors. Sometimes you have to risk it all to succeed. Other times the simplest act in a consistent manner does the trick.

Ultimately, it’s about listening to your innate wisdom, following your inner compass, your soul-source connection, and marrying these elements with authentic, inspired action. To live the life you dream of, bring about the necessary change to make it a reality. Do this and you will most certainly find yourself at the top of your craft. Do this, and the practical needs of your family will be met. Do this and the smile on your face will be self-evident, self-explanatory.

PS: I just heard the lyrics “So take a good look at my face, you’ll see my smile looks out of place” from Smokey Robinson’s “Tracks of My Tears.” Reconcile the relationship between who you’ve been and who you’re meant – want to be. There’s gold in that smile.
