About

Child Family Health International (CFHI) is the leading nongovernmental organization (NGO) placing health science students on global health education programs in ways that are socially responsible and financially just. We model best global health education practices, which demonstrate a priority commitment to community engagement and local integrity. CFHI is an NGO in Special Consultative Status with the ECOSOC of the United Nations.

CFHI works at 20+ sites in 6 countries with over 250 partners and has enrolled students from over 35 countries, with 7,000+ alumni to date. We have also partnered with leading universities, such as the University of California at Davis, Stanford University School of Medicine and Duke University’s School of Nursing to create institutional programs that leverage the academic pedigree of the campus with the deep and longstanding relationships CFHI has cultivated with the community.

CFHI supports locally devised community health projects in all of the countries where we are active—some of them award-winning—and have collaborated with our partners to offer professional development opportunities that not only address the issue of brain drain but also provide sustainable resources and trainings.

Our Recover program (1995 – 2008) transported more than $8 million worth of recovered medical supplies and equipment to underserved and disaster-stricken communities throughout the world. CFHI continues to send shipments of equipment and supplies abroad.
