DearJames,
I have diabetes and I really need to lose some weight, work out more, as well as decrease a lot of things that aren’t good for a diabetic such as sodas and chips. How do I stay motivated when I only work out two days a week, to not at all. It’s like my mind can’t stay truly focused on that because of my career situation which is being without a job now for almost six months altogether this year. I have been without a job since graduating college in 2000. I am stressed and very sad even though I am constantly looking and praying for a Job as well as for my health. What more can I do about these two situations?

Dear What More Can I Do,
Your health is no laughing matter as your body is the vessel by which your soul navigates.
Diabetes can be a major health issue and one that should not be taken lightly.
Proper management of food choices, portion control, and routine exercise are all proven methods of helping to keep this illness in check and/or at bay.
However, depending on your circumstances, length of time you’ve had the disease, and your genes, medication may also be required. You should consult a doctor to know exactly where you stand regarding the matter.
Ultimately, to greatly manage and/or even abate this disease you must first get downright serious and determined.
Knowing that you have a potentially life altering condition and doing little to commit yourself to its control or abatement is the “What More Can I Do” million-dollar answer.
You must commit yourself to making better choices.
You must commit yourself to making proper nutritional and portion-control choices.
You must commit yourself to a daily exercise regime. At a bare minimum commit to walking every day and build up your distance / stamina.
You must commit yourself to mindful, daily meditation and stillness.
You must COMMIT!
Commencing this Commitment can be Challenging yet OH SO REWARDING!
Begin by taking the smallest of steps and continue building upon them until you reach a firm rhythm.
Make your Commitment FUN.
PUSH YOURSELF EACH DAY yet not to an extreme.
Just because it’s challenging doesn’t mean it has to be overwhelming, boring, or impossible.
By making it fun you make it adventurous and by being adventurous you ignite your spirit and by igniting your spirit you achieve great results…success!
As sugar levels play a key role in your mood, energy level, concentration, etc., once you get those regulated and under control your concentration and commitment will follow and increase.
It’s a vicious never-ending cycle and one you must break for the greater you to triumph and prevail.
Once you earnestly attend to your health, nutrition, and fitness, your employment opportunities will naturally follow as a result. They can also work together simultaneously.
A healthy mind, body, and spirit invites opportunity, success, and abundance, let alone joy, happiness, and love.
Summon your COURAGE and COMMIT.
