Made A Big Move

DearJames,

I have an upcoming surgery on my left elbow. Twenty-seven years ago, I had a surgery on same elbow, where a plastic implant was put in place of the radial head. That has now deteriorated and needs to be removed. Nerves are being pinched, etc.

I found a new doctor who is fairly young, but I liked him. The surgery is scheduled for Spring. I am very afraid because my body seems to reject a lot of pain meds, I have had a lot of reactions to meds, including antibiotics that are necessary. That is my biggest concern, finding something that I can take for pain, and hoping the antibiotics, etc. don’t have a negative effect on me. It has been years since I have taken any kind of medication, even though I have severe rheumatoid arthritis.

Will the surgery go all right? And if you can see further, what is this RA all about? Why am I experiencing such pain, chronic pain, disability, and things like this? I have had it since 1980, was bedridden with it, went through a divorce from first husband, got better, much better within 6 months after the divorce, got married a second time a year later, and RA came back within a year or so. Been manageable with surgeries every once in a while, but none since 1991.

Thanks for any insights.

Dear Made A Big Move,

This is-was a great lesson of living beyond your means coupled with little or no true preparation.  You literally forsook the forest for the trees and are now experiencing the deforestation of your acts.

Your plan lacked measured movement, thorough analysis, and sound judgment.  For all intents and purposes, you ran away from home believing that you would rid yourself of that which you fled only to make matters far worse.

This was an inside job of sabotage, and you knew before you ever left that the reasons you were departing so hurriedly, was for all the wrong reasons, but you couldn’t help yourself and you chose to bolt anyway.

Avoidance masquerading as opportunity is still avoidance. It just comes with a whole set of unforeseen circumstances and influences you hadn’t counted on.

I’d like to tell you that all will be just fine, and in fact it will be, just not in the way you had hoped.

The loss of “things” is far more about stripping and re-shaping one’s character, beliefs, and dependencies, than it ever is about failure.  The Universe works in concert with you to bring about the growth, change, and evolution you require – signed up for in life.

There was a window or moment where you knew you were biting off more than you could chew, but you chose to ignore those warning signs.  You chose freedom instead, and now the Universe is simply providing you the freedom you sought, just not in the way you imagined.

True freedom resides within you. No matter where you are, whom you’re with or what you are doing, “Everywhere You Go, There You Are.”  The same four walls you thought would bring you freedom has actually imprisoned you. Now you are faced with not only the reality, but the responsibility, of truly freeing yourself.

First be willing to earnestly “let go of” all that does not serve your best interests.  That may be in the form of thoughts, words, deeds, feelings, actions, inactions, people, places, things, etc.

You and you alone, with the support and assistance of the unseen, lift the weight of your many burdens.

The miraculous thing is, as you begin to alter your course in earnest, the Universe responds accordingly.  Be aware of the direction the Universe is guiding you and LISTEN this time.

Opportunities are often hidden in other forms of communication and expression; the key is in discerning their existence and then following them to their rightful conclusion.

Free yourself to act with artful intention, wisdom, and the tremendous gift of hindsight.  You’ll emerge far stronger, completely humbled, more empowered, and fully present.

How marvelous a gift you gave yourself.
