African Wildlife Foundation

Our Mission: The African Wildlife Foundation, together with the people of Africa, works to ensure the wildlife and wild lands of Africa will endure forever.

The African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) is the leading international conservation organization focused solely on Africa. We believe that protecting Africa's wildlife and wild landscapes is the key to the future prosperity of Africa and its people and, for over 50 years, we have made it our work to help ensure that Africa's wild resources endure.

Empowering the African People:
Who better to protect their land and resources than Africans themselves? Living on the land we strive to protect, Africans are in touch with both its potential and its challenges. They have witnessed the draw of tourists to their land. And, they have come face-to-face with the sometimes destructive consequences of sharing land with Africa's wildlife.

Empowering Africans to be Africa's stewards is at the core of our strategy. And, we begin right here at AWF. Approximately 85 percent of our staff is African.

AIDS Healthcare Foundation
Category: Health | Website: www.aidshealth.org

Los Angeles-based AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) is a global organization providing cutting-edge medicine and advocacy to over 190,000 people in 27 countries. We are the largest provider of HIV/AIDS medical care in the U.S.

A truly independent voice in our mission to rid the world of AIDS, AHF’s operating capital comes from our own self-created social enterprises. AHF Pharmacies, thrift stores, healthcare contracts and other strategic partnerships generate funding that helps AHF provide medical and advocacy services across the globe.

Generating and defining new, innovative ways of treatment, prevention and advocacy is the hallmark of our success. We are currently leading a mass testing initiative to identify and treat the 25 million people who don’t know they are infected. By advocating big goals – aiming to see an unprecedented 1 billion people tested each year – AHF hopes to eliminate older, more time-consuming methods.

Since 1987, AHF has cared for thousands of people living with HIV and AIDS worldwide. As we create and implement unparalleled programs in new communities in the U.S. and abroad, we expand delivery of healthcare and influence over policy with the sole aim of saving more lives.

With this two-pronged approach a vaccine, which would prevent the spread of HIV, and a cure, which would eliminate current and future HIV cases. AIDS Research Alliance is taking steps towards realizing President Obama's vision of an "AIDS-free generation."
